Psychological Fees Overviewadmin
At PsychEquip, our policy is to balance affordability with quality care. We strive to ensure finance does not prevent you from accessing the health care you need.
Our fees remain well below the $251 session rate advocated by the Australian Psychological Society.
Consultation Fees (50mins)
Concession: $140 (upon presentation of pension, health care or student card)
Bulk Billing: Please note that we are not a bulk billing practice. For clients experiencing financial hardship, a special rate may be possible for all or some appointments. Please discuss this option with your Psychologist prior to your appointment.
Cancellation: If you do not attend without notice or with less than 24 hours notice, a fee of $85 must be paid prior to making another booking.
Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice attract no fee as we are able to offer your appointment time to the next client on our waiting list.
If you have been referred by your GP under a GP Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible for an on the spot rebate of $87.45 for your psychologist fees. The rebate applies to both the standard and concessional fees. Under the GP Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible for an initial 6 rebated consultations, with the possibility of up to 10 per year.
Private Health Rebate: For those clients who are self referred, have chosen to use private health cover, or require an e-consultation via Skype, your health insurer may offer a rebate for psychology under their “Extras” provision. Please ask your health insurer about your cover as this varies between funds. The item codes you will need to quote are 100 (Initial visit) or 200 (Subsequent visit). Please note that if you are utilising a Medicare rebate, your private health insurer is unable, by legislation, to cover any gap payment.
$150/hour. This fee applies to treating psychologist court summaries, Centrelink, housing and insurer reports. Typically documents of this nature take a maximum of 2 hours to complete. The fee is not applied to basic letters of attendance (such as for school), WorkCover or Medicare related reports.
