Linda Meaker Psychologist B.Psych (Hons), Grad Dip Psych, MAPS
Linda is a registered psychologist and full member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is a recognised Medicare provider under the Medicare Better Access Scheme. Lida has worked in the public health and community service sectors for the past 20 years. She is passionate about her work with individual and group clients and has a warm and understanding approach to therapy.
Linda Meaker works with children, adolescents, adults and older people. In working with adults across the private sector and within caring organisations, she has extensively supported individuals through a wide range of issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, abuse, parenting concerns, relationship issues, grief, loss and all manner of life events.
Her approach is both person centered and needs directed, to allow empowerment of the individual to work through issues now and to gather Tools For Life. Linda Meaker employs a selection of evidence-based tools such as CBT /cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma-focused therapy, ACT / Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and interpersonal therapy. Her approach recognises that all people have different needs and require different tools to help to improve their circumstances, lives and futures.
Linda particular interest lies in working with children and adolescents. Issues might include:
- separation anxiety
- attachment issues,
- bed wetting
- refusing to attend school
- mood disorders,
- peer problems including bullying,
- behavioural difficulties,
- issues around social skills
- self-esteem issues,
- family changes,blending families, separating parents
- grief and loss
- abuse and trauma.
In addition Linda provides professional supervision accredited by the Psychology Board of Australia for 4+2 postgraduate programs.
